| Today brought on more awesome news. I'm going to Bloomington for a week in July to attend HSJI (High School Journalism Institute). I'm going with MJ, Ali, Dillian, and Ben so it's going to be nuts.
Lanna also told the five of us what I already knew. MJ's Editor-in-chief next year. Thank god. There's no way I could handle that amount of stress. However, I will be assistant-editor-in-chief as well as section editor of either Features or Stud. Life. I'm pretty sure I'll stay with Stud. Life. It's been my section ever since I joined the staff. I love it and I hate it. Pretty complicated relationship.
But, but, a week in Bloomington. Attending IU (Go, IU, IU!).
IU, my dream college. I fell in love with it back on September 25th, 2004. It was such an amazing place and the Marching 100 impressed me. That was back when I was a total band kid and thought it'd be my life. And then, I found journalism and knew I had found my calling.
It doesn't hurt that IU has the 3rd best journalism program in the country. Or that the state of Indiana is giving me $20,000 a year to cover tuition for free.
I honestly don't know what it is about the Bloomington campus that I love so much. It's not the prettiest campus I've seen. Nah, Notre Dame takes that award. Notre Dame is a beautiful place and I do plan applying to St. Mary's next year. Of course, there's two things that will keep me from attending St. Mary's. 1) No money. It's a private school so I don't get my $20,000 a year. 2) Have to live on campus for freshman and sophomore years.
Now, that second point wouldn't be so bad. If I didn't live a whole, oh uh, 20 minutes away. And on a game day, it's just increased to about 45 minutes.
I guess I've rambled enough about how much I love IU by now and I bet you guys are sick of it all, so I'll stop. |
